2nd of May 2010 – my memories, 10 years after ….

Mr Israel & Mrs Chaya Lederberger, Melbourne, AUSTRALIA – Krakow for one day on Sunday May 2 2010. Arrival to Poland. To Krakow – twice! That was 2 years after I had finished my education to be a Krakow city guide. Was quite a “fresh” guide ;). We’ve exchanged several e-mails with Mr Israel and have arranged our meeting in Krakow for a private city tour.  The meeting has been arranged in the known Krakow’s hotel ‘Eden’ in the former Jewish quarter in Krakow. I have been waiting in the lobby and when Mr Lederberger came I said:  “OMG, I can not be your guide! You are orthodox!” … and he answered: “We are not in closed room together and what is more! My wife has chosen you for me ! She has found your website www.cracow-guide.net and she likes it” 🙂 … and this is how it happened. His parents lived in Krakow pre WW2. Miodowa street 13. We’ve visited this place and the flat and he told me how his family and neighbors escaped from Krakow to the East and survived! Then we went to Bochnia: a town situated 30 km from Krakow, famous because of a Salt Mine which still operates. We visited the cemetery where his family was buried. It was difficult to enter there but not impossible 😉 One precious man helped us (see on a photo below). Two years later, Mr. Israel came back with his wife, and I have met a woman who “has chosen me” 🙂 That was wonderful time… I heard many stories from them. We found her family home which still existed at Rekawka street. Somebody was living there, so we were not allowed to come inside. Well, not surprised… We did all the possible: private tours in Krakow, private visit, Jewish district private tour, Podgorze district former Ghetto with Oscar Schindler Factory private tour, we also visited a former nazi concentration camp KL Plaszow, and finally went and visited Auschwitz Birkenau – Private Auschwitz tour have been done. Auschwitz Birkenau study tour, 6 hours there.

Thanks God I have this Job !
